Jr. Eagles Youth Football- Who, What, and Why

Organizational Culture within the Christian Jr. Eagles Program

Values:
 Responsibility:
This value is acted out by kids being held accountable for things such as, having their equipment, doing their job on the field, keeping their grades up, and being respectful at home. Failing to do so can result in loss of playing time or extra conditioning.

This value is lived out and seen as a norm to those who have been with the organization for multiple years, therefore setting the standard for those who join.

Respect:
The organization prides itself on forming respectful young men who will one day contribute to society. Coaches utilize  a "yes sir" "yes ma'am."  policy, as well as helping others. ex: holding doors open, proper eye contact, etc.
The organization does its best to live this value out in order to set the standard for newcomers and those who visit for our field for games. Unfortunately, coaches cannot monitor everything that goes on, but we do our best and make corrections accordingly.

Symbolic Elements:
The program goes under the Living Word Christian Schools logo which represents the high school, middle school, and elementary school all together. This logo is a reminder to everyone that each team represents something bigger than itself.

Our second symbol would be the reason why we got started, and that is to help promote football to all children, prepare players for the high school level competition, and to build players into respectful young adults.  This is the primary goal(s) for all coaches.

Role Elements:
An example of a hero in the organization would be LWCS Athletic Director Andy Hare. Andy had always pushed for youth football teams at LWCS, and has helped jumpstart the organization by providing equipment, practice space, etc. for all teams.

An example of a villain would be parents whom for whatever reason are unhappy with the quality of the team their son may be on, or how the organization is ran. This can lead to them speaking badly about the program to others.

Interactive Cultural Elements:
At the beginning of each season, all coaches are brought together in a sit down meeting to ensure that everyone is on the same page with what is expected.

Another ritual teams try their best to do is to say a quick prayer before each game. Being part of faith based school, teams do their best to try and provide exposure to Christ.

Context Elements:
Andy Hare presented the idea in 2014.
LWCS featured its first youth football team in 2015.
Games and practices are held at the High School stadium, which installed a new turf field in 2016.
