Jordan Cochrum Blog Post 4: PEER AND CO-WORKER RELATIONSHIPS: While working with Living Word Christian, I would say that I have numerous special peer relationships with my co-workers. Mainly because they are family, and also because we have all worked together toward a common goal. So you could say we are used to each other on all levels. For this blog I will be using an example of a collegial peer. Last year, I met a friend of mind named Luke. We sat right by each other in class, and our friendship was formed only because we had to be at class and we happened to sit by each other. Our friendship began as just talking about the professor, where we were from, and what career paths we were planning on taking. As the year went on, our friendship began to evolve in 4 ways. 1. Emotional Support: - Getting a good grade is always important, but there would be times when either I or Luke could tell the other person was just having a bad day. This could be due to getting a bad gr...

Superior & Subordinate Communication with the Jr. Eagles Youth Football Organization TRUST The Trust level with my superior(s) I would say is a level 9. Two of the Three superiors are my parents, and the other is Andy whom is the Athletic Director of Living Word Christian High School. Andy was also served as my football coach for the 4 years I was at LWCS. Trust in our organization can be seen in three ways: 1. Behavioral Integrity: This is utilized whenever one of my superiors needs to run an errand or take a quick break. I give them my word that I will continue whatever duty they were in charge of while they are gone. An example would be running the concession stand. This also works vice versa. 2. Sharing and Delegating of Control: My superiors take into account my suggestions for current and future weeks. Examples include closing times, and what food products to buy and not buy based on customer demand. 3. Communication: My superi...

Organizational Culture within the Christian Jr. Eagles Program Values: Responsibility: This value is acted out by kids being held accountable for things such as, having their equipment, doing their job on the field, keeping their grades up, and being respectful at home. Failing to do so can result in loss of playing time or extra conditioning. This value is lived out and seen as a norm to those who have been with the organization for multiple years, therefore setting the standard for those who join. Respect: The organization prides itself on forming respectful young men who will one day contribute to society. Coaches utilize a "yes sir" "yes ma'am." policy, as well as helping others. ex: holding doors open, proper eye contact, etc. The organization does its best to live this value out in order to set the standard for newcomers and those who visit for our field for games. Unfortunately, coaches cannot monitor everything that goes on, but we do o...

The organization I have chosen to be a volunteer with is the Christian High School Youth Football Program. The program strives to give kids ages 7-14 exposure to the game of football and its fundamentals as well as prepare them for the high school level. I have been a volunteer assistant coach with the same group of kids for 4 years currently. The youth program now in its second year, is still in the growing process and currently has two 5th grade teams and one 7th grade team. My roles in the organization include helping coach my dad's 5th grade team, help run concessions, and operate the score board while the other two teams play. I chose to participate in this volunteer opportunity because I grew up playing football and have always had a passion for the game as well as helping others. Being able to watch these young men (most since they were 6) grow as football players and people is what I enjoy most about it all. http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=chsjreagles&sid=...
